So named from the time people returned to this area to “re-search” for gold after the Warrandyte gold discoveries, Research marks the edge of the suburban spread and the beginning of the rural retreat. It has an established town centre on the main road just past Eltham. There are many large acreage properties scattered over its hillsides, as well as mud-brick houses on bush blocks, and newer developments with contemporary homes.
