| Like
much of this area, Smith’s Gully
(or Queenstown, as it was then known)
was once a gold mining town. With a quaint
local store on the main road, Smith’s
Gully is now home to those seeking a
natural environment within reach of the
city. There are open farmlands and expanses
of natural bush covering the picturesque
hillsides of this area, with beautiful
views to the Kinglake Ranges to the north,
and the skyline of Melbourne, to the
south.
Tucked away off Smith’s
Gully Rd are both quaint and
magnificent mudbrick homes. “Tarantaal” is
one of the best.
