| Warrandyte |
| Set
along one of the prettiest reaches of
the Yarra River, this township has long
been a popular spot for weekend activities.
The river here is an ideal place for
canoeing, and the picturesque paths along
the river-banks are ideal for picnics,
where people come to feed the ducks,
ride horses, or just wander on sunny
mornings. Originally a holiday destination
for people from Melbourne, the area once
had many boarding houses. Warrandyte
has been famous for many years as the
home of potteries and artists’ studios.
The bush-clad slopes around the river
now conceal many beautiful secluded homes.
